House Speaker Michael E. Busch
(Annapolis, MD) "Marylanders made it clear on Election Day - they care about the future of the state, their families, and the environment. In races all over the state winning candidates were talking about the future and importance of moving Maryland forward. In Maryland, where residents are passionate about the Chesapeake Bay, folks are growing increasingly concerned about over-development and traffic, and recognize the need to create new clean energy jobs. "Environmental issues are always on voters' minds when they go to the polls," said Executive Director Cindy Schwartz.
On Primary Election Day, Marylanders made a clear choice to elect candidates who are conservation heroes -- thank you to everyone who volunteered, voted, and helped this Primary!
As of noon on September 13th, the Maryland LCV has a 88% win ratio of endorsed candidates in the state's Primary Elections! A total of 106 out of 123 endorsed candidates won their races.
We are thrilled that Peter Franchot for Comptroller and Doug Gansler for Attorney General both triumphed on Election Day. Maryland LCV also had wins in our top priority races for Senate and the House of Delegates as we reached out to tens of thousands of registered environmental voters with our pro-conservation elections message.

Maryland's Attorney General is an attorney for the people and for the environment.
Maryland LCV is excited to endorse Doug Gansler for Attorney General.
His promise to go after Chesapeake Bay polluters, to conduct an environmental audit of Maryland's waterways, and to enforce air pollution laws show that, without a doubt, Doug Gansler will be a fighter for the environment.
In Maryland, the position of Comptroller is about much more than collecting taxes. The Comptroller sits on the very powerful three-member board of Public Works, which makes decisions about land sales.
Land conservation is critically important in Maryland, and Peter Franchot knows this instinctively.
Delegate Franchot has earned a lifetime score of 92% on the Maryland League of Conservation Voters' General Assembly scorecards.
